Integrated, VoIP, and Point-to-Point T1 Lines |
|
An integrated T1 is just another type of T1 line. It provides local and long distance calling, as well as, bandwidth, all on a single T1 line. This is a great option for small business who need stability but do not have money in their budget for multiple choices. Integrated T1 lines are convenient and more cost-efficient that having to use different carrier for voice and data needs. Integrated T1 lines are very similar to Fractional T1s. Integrated T1 lines use a section of the T1 channels for an internet connection and uses a section for telephone lines. The most common is a Full Integrated T1. This is when 12 channels are used for internet and 12 channels are used for telephone lines. This means that the T1 line is split directly in half to support both the needs of voice and data. VoIP, or voice over IP, is transforming telecommunications. It is cheaper than regular telephone connections. VoIP breaks down telephone calls into packets of data that are then sent via the internet to the receiver. These packets only contain the actual conversation in a telephone call and therefore doesn’t need the extra bandwidth for blank spaces when no one is talking. Less bandwidth mean less money, and so in effect this is a very cost-effective method of voice communication. It will be on the rise over the next few years. Point to Point T1 (P2P) lines are very different from the regular T1 line. They do not supply internet connections or telephone lines, however, they do transport both. A point to point is generally used for corporations who have multiple satellite locations. Businesses use P2P to share their voice and data services. Let’s say that a company’s home office has internet and telephone connections available. By installing a Point to Point T1 line, the home office can share is voice and data services with its other smaller locations. This is an extremely cost-effective T1 option. It can save the smaller locations huge bills, because they no longer need to install new telephone and bandwidth connections. If you are interested in any of these options, feel free to call now.
